FIRST YEAR: BIBLE TRAINING PROGRAM

Charis Bible College believes in the importance of academics, but those who are going into the ministry must know how to minister! We strive for a balance between knowledge of Scripture and practical ministry experiences. The first year lays a foundation of biblical truths that will deepen your understanding of the Gospel - of who God is, and who you are in Him.

The school year is divided into three 10-week terms. Each term will contain a mixture of DVD teachings, live speakers and practical sessions. While the focus of Charis is on Biblical truth, it is imperative that we learn to apply these truths to our lives.

In addition to classes, first-year students are required to volunteer 25 hours each term (3 terms total) in practical ministry either in a local church, Charis Toronto, or other Charis-approved ministries. Students are encouraged to step out into ministry and, in doing so, learn how to operate as the body of Christ.

Upon successful completion of the program, you will receive a Certificate of Completion. Students must receive this certificate before enrolling in the second year.

This program is offered in both Full-Time Day School and Part-Time Night School sessions at our Canadian campus in Toronto, Ontario. If you choose to study part time, you can complete the first-year curriculum in a period of two academic years.

SECOND YEAR: PRACTICAL MINISTRY TRAINING PROGRAM

Where the first year at Charis sets your foundation in the Word, the second year builds upon it with courses aimed at teaching you to share what you have learned with the world. The emphasis is on learning by doing.

All second-year students are required to go on a Charis mission trip as part of their requirements for graduation. We believe that mission trips are a valuable part of ministry training. Students learn how to function as a team in a foreign culture and unfamiliar surroundings, as well as how to share the Gospel and communicate through an interpreter. These are life-changing trips. Even if you don't plan to minister on foreign fields, these trips will expand your world vision and grant you insight to help those who are called to missions.

Charis mission trips are typically between 7-10 days in length. Trips are scheduled throughout the school year and require students to minister through teaching, evangelism, prayer, and drama to both adults and children of different nations. Locations change from year to year based upon hosts and scheduling restrictions. Previous locations have included: England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Germany, Bulgaria, Russia, India, Thailand, Uganda, Kenya, Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Belize, the Dominican Republic, Argentina and Ecuador.

THIRD YEAR: LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM

The purpose of the third-year program is to facilitate the transition of Charis graduates from students to the ministers God has called them to be. This is accomplished by preparing individuals and ministry teams to establish Bible colleges, plant churches, and serve and support ministries worldwide.

During your time in the Charis Leadership Program, you will benefit from hands-on training both within college and on placement, as well as a variety of inputs aimed at developing your practical experience of ministry. The program will include high quality teaching from our US-based instructors, shown on DVD, as well as live guest speakers from the ministry.

As a third-year student, you will also be expected to support fellow students and help meet their needs.

To be eligible for this program, you must be a Charis Alumni.
